Defiant Obama Seeks to Revive Health Care Overhaul

advertisement

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A defiant President Barack Obama sought Monday to revive his faltering plan to overhaul health care, delivering a full-throated promise to get comprehensive legislation and summoning lawmakers crucial to his effort to the White House.

''Don't bet against us. We are going to make this thing happen,'' Obama told a news conference intended to focus on his nominee for surgeon general, Dr. Regina Benjamin.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

A good plan that fails to pass is better than a bad plan that does and ultimately would hurt Obama less. The time for a basic government health insurance plan that would cover everybody has come and the country is ready for it.

It's about damn time he got defiant again. That's the guy we voted for -- not this go along to get a long person he keeps threatening to turn into.

So obama is calling for "give me anything" and I'll sign then I can say I kept my promise. Just like the bailout he signed laden with pork. Is that what we really need? We need lower premiums, fewer lawsuits, choose our own doctor and no health care rationing and cover everyone no matter their health situation.
