Cash found in Ohio house's walls becomes nightmare

advertisement

CLEVELAND – A contractor who found $182,000 in Depression-era currency hidden in a bathroom wall has ended up with only a few thousand dollars, but he feels some vindication.

The windfall discovery amounted to little more than grief for contractor Bob Kitts, who couldn't agree on how to split the money with homeowner Amanda Reece.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

So much greed, so little common sense.

A fool and his gold are parted and this is just what happened.  Those old bills  to a collector would have minted twice or three time the face value of the money.  A trip to Hawaii $40,000 come one now.  Luckydog you are so right so much greed, so little common sense.

I like the keeping 60,000 in a shoe box in a closet that was stolen. That's where I always keep large amounts of cash ;<)

I didn't notice but was this plumber's first name Joe? Maybe that is why Joe was worried about paying  more taxes if Obama won ;<)

I just don't get why the plumber ever felt he was entitled to any part of the cash. The homeowner should have been immediatly notified to give her everything that was found, and he should have never opened the envelopes or boxes.

Or conversely, if the plumber was not honest he could have kept it all, never said a thing and saved them both a lot of trouble. Not saying he should have but he could have.
