Algae are tiny biological factories that use photosynthesis to transform carbon dioxide and sunlight into energy so efficiently that they can double their weight several times a day.
We know that nitrogen fertilizer runoff creates tremendous algae blooms that adversely affect rivers, wetlands, oceans, etc. Now if we could just figure out how to run that water through an algae farm...
I saw a report a while back where they've implemented a similar concept in AZ.
Imagine if they could pump coal fired waste air through one of these set ups. The scale might be unimaginable but people are thinking the right way on this.
